CLARISSA
I'm Clarissa, a student and creative based between Los Angeles and Merced, California. Currently, I am a second year Environmental Studies student at the University of California. During my first year, I experimented academically by taking classes throughout various departments, being involved in design, business, and public relations before settling on Environmental Studies. Growing up in one of the most agriculturally dense areas in the country, and being additionally between the Northern California coastline and Yosemite National Park, ultimately cemented my love for nature and its conservation over other disciplines. Despite my final choice, I wholeheartedly believe my experience across fields provides me with a wider world view that can afford me multiple skills applicable in any professional setting.

Sustainability StoryMap Project
Video walk through of a sustainability project as part of the course Sustainability Science in the City, demonstrating a fluency in ArcGIS software, interactive mapping data, and geospatial technologies. Research on both current and historical land uses was required to gather a nuanced context of land coverage changes over time, as well as an analysis of future development plans by the city of Merced and UC Merced to provide realistic solutions to minimize land damage and conserve endangered ecosystems.
City Sustainability Profile
For this project, the task was to research an urban region and its various sustainability challenges, which were categorized into environmental, economic, and equity issues, and to find a potential solution to one of these challenges. The project was done as a pairing, and below are a few of the slides I worked on.
